Previously on Gossip Girl: Serena and Dan broke up after Georgina meddled in their relationship. Serena spends the summer in the Hamptons with Nate, who broke up with Vanessa for no apparent reason. Blair and Chuck were supposed to spend the summer in Europe together, but each got sidetracked by other love interests. Jenny, after ceding the turf war to Blair, got a fashion design internship with Blair’s mother for the summer. Lily and Rufus slept together, but that didn’t stop Lily from marrying Bart Bass anyway.
